Massage and Digestive Health

Digestive disorders can be uncomfortable and sometimes very painful. Oftentimes, releasing abdominal tension and relieving stress can help relieve some of the symptoms associated with many digestive disorders. Gentle massage on the abdomen can help to clear congestion and adhesions, as well as, reduce cramping, bloating, gas and constipation. It may also be appropriate to incorporate a castor oil pack into your massage session. The pack is placed directly on the abdomen and will help to increase circulation and lymph movement, stimulate the liver, relieve pain and reduce inflammation. Be sure to share all of your symptoms with your massage therapist so that that two of you can develop a plan appropriate to your individual digestive health needs.
