Ultimately, pain is one of the ways our body can speak to us. “Hello, can you hear me? Something is wrong and I need your attention?” Sometimes the attention can be as simple as resting an overworked muscle but oftentimes the messages have been ignored or worked around for so long that other means of treatment are necessary.
I see many clients suffering with pain and symptoms that keep them from doing their favorite activities. Regardless of it being chronic pain that set in years ago or acute pain from a weekend event, discomfort can cause a downward spiral leading to sleeplessness, anxiety, depression and many other related symptoms.

Don't give into the pain, instead, find what works for you and make a commitment to care for yourself each and everyday!

While some levels of stress are normal by today’s standards, we can all experience stress overload. It important to tune in and recognize that things like headaches, insomnia, anxiety, moodiness, agitation, frequent illness and depression are symptomatic of your bodies stress response.

Continued research shows that therapeutic massage can help teach you to relax and better cope with stress and its affects. Regular massage not only offers a stress break but can decrease your muscle tension and induce a calm state of mind allowing you to stay more relaxed even when stressors arise. Budgeting time and money for massage on a monthly basis is a great way to combat stress and invest in your daily health.
The Barefoot Therapisthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10643590312620061532noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8526894719048411021.post-49222349867300988952011-11-17T10:56:00.001-08:002011-11-17T10:56:45.466-08:00Massage and Neurological Health
While neurological disorders are a great threat to many suffers, research has shown decreased symptoms for many patients who receive regular massage. Regardless of the terms used to explain massage such as pampering, rejuvenating or therapeutic, massage therapy can be a strong ally in your regular health care practice to manage headaches, migraines, carpel tunnel, sleep disturbances and more. Simply put, massage can help increase the circulation, release nerve entrapment and reduce pain and numbness associated with many neurological disorders.
The Barefoot Therapisthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10643590312620061532noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8526894719048411021.post-67100655541519040812011-10-25T11:17:00.000-07:002011-10-25T11:17:10.965-07:00Fibromyalgia
For most sufferers, fibromyalgia is a lifelong condition so treatment is often about managing the symptoms. Because the sufferer can be hypersensitive, it is best to use a variety of gentle massage techniques to avoid over stimulation.

Massage is used to calm and relax the client and aid in easy muscle flushing over several sessions. If you or someone you know suffers from this condition, massage may be a non invasive way to help manage the symptoms.
The Barefoot Therapisthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10643590312620061532noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8526894719048411021.post-89102805897245452602011-10-13T10:54:00.000-07:002011-10-13T10:54:23.508-07:00Massage and Digestive Health
Digestive disorders can be uncomfortable and sometimes very painful. Oftentimes, releasing abdominal tension and relieving stress can help relieve some of the symptoms associated with many digestive disorders. Gentle massage on the abdomen can help to clear congestion and adhesions, as well as, reduce cramping, bloating, gas and constipation. It may also be appropriate to incorporate a castor oil pack into your massage session. The pack is placed directly on the abdomen and will help to increase circulation and lymph movement, stimulate the liver, relieve pain and reduce inflammation. Be sure to share all of your symptoms with your massage therapist so that that two of you can develop a plan appropriate to your individual digestive health needs.
The Barefoot Therapisthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10643590312620061532noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8526894719048411021.post-47419641003238821562011-09-30T08:09:00.000-07:002011-09-30T08:09:14.839-07:00Massage for Emotional Wellness
Anxiety and stress are often stored in key areas of the body. Often this results in tension in the associated muscles, however it can also trigger pain, insomnia, and even digestive issues. Regular therapeutic massage is an excellent tool to combat these issues and maintain a great sense of well-being. Patients often report feeling relaxed after therapeutic massage, however they also report better concentration, reduced irritability, and improved sleep. Help take control of your mind-body health, and schedule your therapeutic massage today.
The Barefoot Therapisthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10643590312620061532noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8526894719048411021.post-5349937827990629792011-09-06T05:08:00.001-07:002011-09-06T11:40:00.378-07:00Massage for the CureThroughout the month of September, I am donating $5 from each massage session to the Susan G Komen Foundation to help with the fight for breast cancer. Why am I doing it? Because nearly 1.3 million men and women are diagnosed each year. Breast cancer does not discriminate. It affects every age, race and gender and is the most prevalent cancer diagnosed today.

Over the years, I have participated in the Race for the Cure several times and this year is no different. On October 1st, I will crawl out of bed, drink my cup of coffee, pull on the running shoes and join the masses in pink through the Charlotte streets in an effort to help bring awareness to this fight and "Save the Ta-Tas." I can't wait!!! I love this run and the energy that surrounds it. The diversity of people and camaraderie for the cause it just overwhelming. When I signed up for the run, I decided that I would commit to the cause each day leading up to it and I am sticking to my guns. I have decided to take a piece of each massage session and support from each client with me to the run. How can I do that? It is simple. Make a donation. I am collecting $5 from each massage session during the month of September and will be making a lump sum donation to the cause. This allows me to discuss the cause and bring awareness to those I come in contact with. As well, I am able to let my clients know they are supporting me on race day and becoming a force in the fight. I look forward to this event and the good it will bring.
